Volunteer

North Queensland Animal Rescue is run entirely by passionate and dedicated volunteers who care deeply about the welfare of dogs in our community.

We welcome new volunteers regardless of experience
or skillset. There are many ways you can become
involved other than, or as well as, foster caring. As a
volunteer you may contribute your time on a regular
weekly basis, for one off projects, or at various events
throughout the year.

If you are 18 years or over and would like to become a NQAR volunteer please complete the volunteer application form.
NB for foster caring please complete the foster carer application form.

What you can help with

Transporting
Dogs

Dogs may need to be collected from local pounds or private homes, transported to the vet for appointments or to adoption days and other events. NQAR can cover fuel costs for longer trips and regular drivers.

Adoption Days

We hold adoption days throughout the year at a range of venues. Additional dog handlers, assistance with set up and pack down, administrative support, transport of gear and event promotion are just a few of the opportunities for volunteers to be involved.

Events

NQAR runs an annual Mother’s Day bake sale, Cent Sale and Santa Paws photoshoot and various other events throughout the year. We also participate in community events such as the Colour Frenzy Fun Run, Dogs Day Out Festival and Cairns Show.

Market Stalls

Market stalls are a great way to engage with the community and promote our work. We have a range of dog related merchandise and handicrafts for sale. If you like to listen to people’s dog stories this may be the role for you.

Donation Collection & Delivery

NQAR regularly receive donations from community members and local businesses. These donations need collection and delivery to either foster carers or our storage shed. We can cover fuel costs for regular driver volunteers.

Fundraising

We have an energetic and enthusiastic fundraising and events committee that works to identify fundraising opportunities and make events happen. If you have the ideas and connections, we would love to hear from you.

Photography

Photos play a key role in our animals getting adopted. Join our team of volunteer photographers who take amazing photos for adoption profiles and promotions.

Admin &
Coordination

There are a range of administrative and coordination roles that keep the organisation running. If this is where your skillset and interest lie, we can find a role for you.
